The original Perimeter was a critically acclaimed indie real-time strategy game that introduced innovative gameplay to the genre, such as landscape modification and greater emphasis on territorial aspects.
The sequel, Perimeter 2, promises to deliver even fresher ideas and will cater to progressive gamers, those who seek new experiences within the RTS genre. After several months of closed testing where 4k users actively participated in the preparation for the public launch of Fallen Empire: Legions, the game is now live over at InstantAction, a free web-based portal where players can compete in a number of 3D online multiplayer games in their browser.
Fallen Empire: Legions is a free online multiplayer FPS in the same likeness as Tribes with heavy emphasis on jump packs and frantic action. Players can choose from six character configurations - Gunner, Sniper, Sniper Specialist, Rocket Specialist, Grenade Specialist and Chaingun Specialist. The game modes will initially include deathmatch and capture the flag playable on two large maps. The game will continue to be developed and new features added based on feedback from the community.
Fuel Industries has recently launched an online arcade games portal targeted towards adolescent females ages 7 and up at AllGirlArcade.com. The site is based on a new storyline called the All Girl Star Squad, a fictional trio of girl gamers who attempt to stop creatures from outer space from enslaving the universe, and offers pre-teen girls a casual gaming environment to get more young females interested in video games. An MMO is being planned for All Girl Arcade as well, which will be appearing this fall.
After a successful open beta testing phase, team-based 2D isometric multiplayer action game Fireteam Reloaded is now an officially launched title at Pixel Mine Games. Fireteam Reloaded combines arena-style gameplay objectives with intense tactical warfare and in-game voice chat. The game can be downloaded for free which initially includes a couple of maps, three character classes and four gameplay modes but more maps, classes and items can unlocked for a small fee. An interesting note is that players enlisted in the military with e-mail accounts ending in “.mil” get a 20% discount on all premium Fireteam Reloaded content.
MidEast Criss 2 is a free total conversion mod that changes Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars into urban warfare between the UN Peacekeepers, Israel Defense Force, and Guardians of Islam in locations such as Jerusalem. One of the unique gameplay additions in MEC2 from C&C3 is something called “Occupation Warfare”, which allows sides to capture various objects, vehicles, buildings and structures throughout the map for certain advantages.

Gamejam, an online game company, has officially launched Supreme Boxing after a period of beta testing where over 8k players participated. Supreme Boxing is an online multiplayer boxing strategy game that’s played via web-browser with the ability to create your own boxer or stable of boxers who compete against others in various weight classes, divisions, regions and events around the world while building reputation, winning titles and gaining fame and fortune. Players can develop their boxers’ skills by training and joining boxing clubs to improve their attributes and move up in rankings.
Online web-based games with collectible card elements is an undeniable growing trend due to their ability to generate micro-transaction revenue for game developers. One of the latest titles to continue this trend is The Continuum, an online collectible wargame that combines turn-based wargaming, collectible card game elements and RPG elements into one deep game. The Continuum requires no download as it’s programmed entirely in Flash and will be free to play. However, players will have the option to purchase packs of new random units. Urban Rivals is a wildly popular online multiplayer collectible card game with characters based on pop-culture stereotypes released back in early 2006. While Urban Rivals is free to play, some card packs require credits to obtain, which have to be purchased. Recently, a new clan was introduced to the game called the Piranas, a card deck series based on pirate characters with 6 new characters: Katan, Hawkins, Spycee, Mayhem, Smokey and Rhed.
Online games portal, Enkord, has added the latest title to their selection of fun and simple games called Gunrox, a turn-based squad tactics combat game. Create a customizable squad of soldiers and play online in head-to-head or cooperative skirmishes as you train them up with improved skills and equipment. S4 League was recently licensed by Burda:ic to be made available for western audiences through their international online games portal alaplaya. S4 League is an online multiplayer third-person shooter with striking similarities to Gunz Online that’s popular in Korea and was developed by Korean gaming company Neowiz. Much like Gunz Online, S4 League has players battling each other in a fantasy sport where gunplay and John Woo-esque shootouts take place. The cel-shaded anime style graphics a la Jet Grind Radio suits the frantic and over the top ultra stylized gameplay quite nicely, as well. When it launches, it could rival the popularity of Gunz Online.
Last week, Aeria Games was pleased to announce the beginning of closed beta for their latest free online game, Richman Online, an MMO property tycoon board game. The game is a combination of some of world’s popular board games, where players can buy and sell property, manage their own businesses and engage in stock market trading. Like many MMOs licensed and translated over from Asia for western audiences, Richman Online is visually represented by anime style graphics and cute characters.

3 Lives Left, a Denmark-based video game development company, was recently awarded $125,000 in grant money from the the New Danish Screen at the Nordic Game Conference, which took place in Sweden. The grant comes from a pool of capital that’s used to help fund the development and production of various media projects and concepts.
In order to hype up the official launch of TrackMania United Forever on the 23rd of May, a new trailer has been released and made available for download in low res and high res versions over at the game’s website. The new title is the sequel to TrackMania Nations Forever, which is completely free to download and play, plus the multiplayer is fully compatible with TrackMania United Forever, without the new modes, environments, vehicles and several other additions.

A F2P (free to play) turn-based strategy game with some RPG elements, Wild West Online: Gunfighter has recently been made available for public testing. A new patch was just released yesterday, introducing new updates and features. The game is still relatively new and unheard of, so you can be one of the first to experience the game while developing your character, earning money, items and experience points to further customize your abilities.
The Pixel Mine Portal is a downloadable client that allows you to play a number of online multiplayer games including MMORPGs like Ashen Empires, Dransik and Secondhand Lands. The fourth game, Fireteam Reloaded, is a 2D isometric tactical shooter currently in beta testing. Pixel Mine plans to add around three to four games each year, most of which are from independent developers.
Freaky Creatures is a hybrid between an action figure toy-line with collectible card game elements and a persistent online multiplayer game that’s being developed by Abandon Interactive Entertainment. Players wanting to get into the game will be required to purchase a starter pack that includes a USB device which contains the game installation, two unique Freaky Creatures figures and their virtual counterparts, 50 parts, 20 powers and 4 objects, all of which are randomly generated and used to customize your creatures and their lairs, as well as special in-game cards that provide various abilities and advantages.
The sequel to TrackMania Nations, a free online racing game with gravity defying tracks and stunts, TrackMania Nations Forever, will be available as a free download starting on April 16th, 2008.
TrackMania Nations launched two years ago and instantly became an online phenomenon. It has been downloaded and installed on 30 million computers with 4 million accounts created.
World Winner has just expanded its partnership with FremantleMedia Enterprises to develop an online version of The Price is Right with cash prizes. Players will be able to compete as contestants on the show in the form of an online game.
