Interview with the producer of Stargate Worlds

Gamasutra has posted an interview with Joe Ybarra from Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment. Ybarra was one of the original game producers at Electronic Arts in 1982 where he worked on the very first version of Madden NFL. He later went on to produce a number of MMOs including Shadowbane and Matrix Online.
He mentioned that Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment’s second project was going to be a non-massively multiplayer online game that’s been built from the ground up to support a micro-transaction model framework and personally believes that a free-to-play business model was superior to a subscription-based model when it comes to online gaming services such as MMOs.
The rest of the discussion is industry-related for the most part, but is a good read.
On another Stargate Worlds note, here’s a chance to get one of your questions answered at the next developer Q&A in their forums.
