SocioTown Enters Public Beta

SocioTown is a browser-based 3D MMO social game that’s now publicly available for play testing. It’s developed by an independent company called Outside the Box Software and is heavily influenced by such games as The Sims and Animal Crossing, but also brings new features to the realm of social and virtual world games.

What sets SocioTown apart from other games of the genre is that it also has gameplay elements from the standard MMORPG, such as missions, attributes, advanced NPC interactions and character progression. Among the many features in the game is the ability to “Street Box”. All you need is pair of boxing gloves that you buy at one of the local shops to engage in street boxing. The combat mechanics are real-time and how well you perform is actually determined by your strategic skill and your player attributes such as speed, strength and endurance, which can all be improved by training, eating, and lifting weights.

The game only requires a Shockwave enabled browser to play.
