Divergence Online Shows Progress With New Media

Divergence Online is a sci-fi MMO being developed by Stainglass Llama, a small software company. Today, they’ve unveiled a brand new character creation video for the first time along with a slew of new work-in-progress screenshots.

Divergence Online is being designed from the ground up to accomodate open-ended gameplay in a dynamic environment in which players aren’t restricted by the limitations of hard-coded PvP rules. That doesn’t necessarily mean that there won’t be consequences for attacking other players. Their faction ratings will be effected accordingly to his or her own faction’s views concerning hostilities against other players, then their faction’s opinion on attacking the other persons primary faction, and the list cascades down the line.

The developers want players to be in complete control of their fate and actions, but also having to face the consequences of being “wanted” or “hunted” for their negative behavior and allow a greater sense of criminality.

Stainglass Llama also attended the IMGDC this year, where they were able to license server software from PX Interactive, which will make the development process a lot smoother for them in the long-run.
