Empire of Sports Private Launch
Empire of Sports is an upcoming MMO that is a hybrid between a social game/virtual world, a multi-sports game and an MMORPG. It’s the first of its kind. Each player controls a character, which they’ll be able to customize and advance, by developing their statistics in a large variety of techniques, skills and attributes for different sports games.
Players will be able to use their character to compete in football (soccer), basketball, tennis, skiing, bobsleigh and more. Each individual sports game isn’t just a shallow minigame, they’re full-blown and in-depth complex games of their own. You will not control an entire team in a game of say, basketball. You only control your own single character in a full-court 5v5 game of basketball while 4 other teammates are controlled by other players and your opponents being 5 separate players on their team. As the game and community grows, so will the selection of sports games that can be added in the future.
When playing your character outside of these sports arenas, you’ll be able to explore a virtual world where you can interact with other players and shop at stores much like in a social game environment. You’ll also be able to train your character at various gyms and facilities.
To become a VIP and join the private launch, you can head over to Eurogamer and grab a key after registering for an account. There are a limited amount of keys, so I wouldn’t wait too long to sign up.
