MMOGamer interviews Lee Hammock of Fallen Earth

In MMOGamer’s recent interview with Fallen Earth lead designer Lee Hammock, Lee gives us information on rising through the ranks of a particular faction should you choose to align yourself with one (it’s possible to have a completely neutral and unaffiliated character). As you move up the hierarchical ladder, you gain access to such items as faction-specific armor and player titles. Plus, a “badge achievement system” is currently being worked on.
The same progression and rewards premise will also work similar with exploration and discovering new areas. Lee mentions that the entire province will have something interesting and worthwhile to visit within your surroundings at any given location where you’re standing. There will even be places that won’t show up on your radar, so if you venture out into the unknown, the environment won’t just be a generic wasteland. Roughly 33% + of the game world features capturable towns and outposts, as well as content specific to those regions. These regions are completely unrestricted in terms of player conflict; anyone can be attacked at anytime by anyone.
The game is also making use of Vivox’s VoIP technology, allowing players to communicate via headset in the game without a program like Ventrilo or TeamSpeak, and even make phone calls in and out of the game so you can contact your clan from your cell phone to let them know why you’re late for the raid.
