Twilight War Prerelease Now Available

Twilight War: After the Fall is a post-apocalyptic MMOFPS that was first announced and developed by Smiling Gator Productions in 2004 as a massively multiplayer online game utilizing Valve’s source engine. In late 2005, the game was pronounced dead, but soon revived in early 2006 when Smiling Gator Productions agreed to license the concept to a new partner company called General Computers, to fund and continue its development.

A preliminary single-player version of the game (15 gigs in size) has been recently released for $35, which includes access to pre-beta and a free month’s subscription when the game goes live. It seems kind of shady to charge players just to try out an incomplete game, as if they aren’t confident enough in their own product that they can’t allow players to test their game before committing to the full purchase price. Yet, I can understand why they need the financial support and investment from the community to fuel the game’s development.
However, we’ve seen what happened to Mourning aka Realms of Krel and D&L (now F2P) with such business practices. Hell, even Tatsumaki is pulling the same type of scheme with pre-orders for a game that has yet to show anything tangible.
