The first details of Nanoverse Online have recently been revealed through the official website. The new free MMO is being developed by Duplex Systems, who previously created Face of Mankind, a now defunct title.

Nanoverse Online revolves around nanobots in a microscopic environment where players control cybernetic organisms which are made up of various modules, the combination of which determines the appearance and functionality of each nanobot. The fictional world takes place on a single dynamic, player-driven and unrestricted persistent server where conflict can happen anytime, anywhere, and production, economics and trading are all important elements, as players vie for resources by controlling territory and building structures.

The official website of Face of Mankind: Rebirth was recently updated with a message concerning Duplex System’s decision to cancel the game due to financial issues. The original sci-fi MMO was first released back in early 2005, where thousands of players participated in a persistent universe taking place in a dystopian future rife with political tension.
